Hey guys, I was leaning towards the LMS chip untill I went to my local SCT dealer, Silver State Motorsports. All this guy does is Fords, Mostly bad azz turbo set ups, but anyways, He was explaining to me that you should never order a chip from out of state, certainly not from the east coast due to all of the climate and altitude changes. Same for the east coast people, don't order one from the west coast. He was explaining how the chip can hold 5 seperate programs and be toggled between them with the flip of a switch. Also he was explaining that for a proper tune the car needs to be dyno tuned. So I guess i'm going to go for the SCT chip and tune. It's going to be around $475 bucks total. Sound about right??? The guy who will be tuning it (Mike Arnett) has a bad azz turbocharged Ford Focus (street car) you wouldn't even think twice untill you got right up on it, it's running in the 10's. Also years ago before I had the mark, He did one that always showed up at the street races and kicked major azz, I still don't know what was done to it but it was smoking stangs and lightnings with ease.

Both myself and my friend are going to get our Marks done at the same time.

Who here has a SCT and dyno tune? Anything I should know about or make certain to have added in the tune?

Thanks, Rich.

Are you actually getting your car on their dyno for them to tune or are they just going to send you a custom burned chip? If it's the latter the price you said is way too expensive. As far as what they should include in the tune that they might not think of, make sure they take out the timing retard in between shifts, and make the torque converter lockup at a higher MPH. Also, don't increase the timing too much. Especially in the upper rpms because you will lose horsepower. I would do 5 to 6 degrees timing increase in the lower rpms and then 4 degrees until redline.

I am sure that you will recognize YMMV and as such the best think is to have a car that performs as you want it to. This said I think you should not get to consentrated on the hardware side of the isssue but focus on alll the drivability ones. It could be easy to make a higher RWHP unit that does'nt start right,or won't idle, etc. That's why you carefully pick your installer/tuner. I think that a good tuner should have the car for a better part of a week to address all these issues.

No mail order tune can ever match a good dyno tune. If your tuner has a good reputation go for it.
