Not all of us live in a communist or socialist country and some of us enjoy our freedom of choice and don't approve of big brother looking after us..
i hate the seat-belt warning buzzer and was happy to disable it !!

found the instructions on this site from a link someplace, didn't keep a record of it :)
turn the key on and buckle and unbuckle the seat belt nine times then the dash light flashes and buckle and unbuckle one time and that annoying warning buzzer shuts up !!!
do it again and it turns the alarm back on.

Now you can go on your way without that loud annoying noise telling you to fasten that damn seat belt !!!!

the light still comes on the dash but goes out silently and does not come back on after startup :)

sorry i couldn't find the original instructions again ... :(

Nadians ignore this post as it relates to freedom of choice.

Went out and did this immediately upon seeing it, seems to have worked. Won't know for sure till next time I drive it. But sure enough, fix one thing and something else craps out. Driver side brake light just stopped working tonight.

So no "likes" for this !! ??? LOL !!!

for the safety police i wear my belt most of the time but not going to get the mail and listening to that damn thing badgering me all the way !!

tried to scan instructions.

You all do know that this super secret information (and much more) is in the owner's manual.

One time disable
Any time the safety belt is buckled and then unbuckled during an
ignition ON cycle, the BeltMinder will be disabled for that ignition cycle
only.
Deactivating/activating the BeltMinder feature
Read steps 1 - 9 thoroughly before proceeding with the
deactivation/activation programming procedure.
The BeltMinder feature can be deactivated/activated by performing the
following procedure:
Before following the procedure, make sure that:
• The parking brake is set
• The gearshift is in P (Park) (automatic transmission)
• The ignition switch is in the OFF position
• All vehicle doors are closed
• The driver’s safety belt is unbuckled
• The parklamps/headlamps are in OFF position (If vehicle is equipped
with Autolamps, this will not affect the procedure.)
To reduce the risk of injury, do not deactivate/activate the Belt
Minder feature while driving the vehicle.
1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN (or ON) position. (DO NOT
START THE ENGINE)
2. Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off. (Approximately 1–2
minutes)
• Steps 3–5 must be completed within 60 seconds or the procedure will
have to be repeated.
3. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times, ending with the
safety belt unbuckled. This can be done before or during BeltMinder
warning activation.
4. Turn on the parklamps/headlamps, turn off the parklamps/headlamps.
Seating and Safety Restraints
171
5. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times, ending with the
safety belt unbuckled.
• After step 5 the safety belt warning light will be turned on for three
seconds.
6. Within seven seconds of the safety belt warning light turning off,
buckle then unbuckle the safety belt.
• This will disable BeltMinder if it is currently enabled, or enable
BeltMinder if it is currently disabled.
7. Confirmation of disabling BeltMinder is provided by flashing the safety
belt warning light four times per second for three seconds.
8. Confirmation of enabling BeltMinder is provided by flashing the safety
belt warning light four times per second for three seconds, followed by
three seconds with the safety belt warning light off, then followed by
flashing the safety belt warning light four times per second for three
seconds again.
9. After receiving confirmation, the deactivation/activation procedure is
complete.

covered a hundred times over on this forum. Though he found something new that hundreds before him didn't.
Almost about as foolish and funny as the guy with his post where he drilled out the actual chime/buzzer and f*cked his entire cluster.

Possibly Redneck next week, might also discover the "Easy Entry/Exit" option or maybe even the holding down of both LOCK/UNLOCK for longer then 4 seconds on the FOB.

Redneck read & learn material:

Belt Minder chime Enable/Disable

Disable (mute) the cluster chime? ... and miss out on the ever so popular "mystery" beep

What LS Instrumentation options are you using ?

Joe, STOP IT ... the man has got a brain the size of an ant, it's of no use, perfectly good waste of effort.
Can't space out reading material to discover it's sectioned "One time disable" vs. "Deactivating/activating the BeltMinder feature"

BUT ... it is GREAT entertainment for the bored. Can't wait to see bicycle mirrors on his LS. (pic plz G)

Your mean !!!!
does insulting people make you feel better about yourself ??
you want to beat me up to take my lunch money ??
making people feel bad make you feel good ??
when somebody tries to contribute to show thanks for drawing from a bank of knowledge that has helped them and makes a redundant post kicking them and beating on them and insulting them is the proper thing to do ??
I read and read four weeks before posting and found something i had not seen and wanted to share and found others hadn't seen it also.
SHAME on me for trying to contribute !!!
but more shame on YOU big dick for being such a narcissist.

Hey !!! let's find a new member and beat them up to show our superiority because we have no life worth living otherwise !! LOL !!!

welcome to LVC !!!!!

And here I thought this didn't work on Gen 1s. I was about to write "Don't mind me over here, a helpless Gen 1 owner who just plugged up the whole in the chimer" but said "let me check the owner's manual PDF I have before I look like another person who doesn't read the manual" and sure enough, there it is. The PDF version with Ctrl+f sure is handy. Now it's fixed.

No regret on the chimer plugging though, because I can't stand how the car constantly chimes when the key is in the ignition and the door is open. This is the only car I have that does that when the car is running. I can understand it chiming with the car off, like "hey don't leave the key" but if the car is running, there's usually a reason. The door ajar light should be enough...

That's exactly as it is around here. You must search every word of every post using multiple search features around here, because everyone else will also search every word of every post using multiple search features so as to slam someone for daring to repeat a post. It's one of the less endearing parts of this site. The technical knowledge on the LS counterbalances it though. I've tried to address this here before, and it only works for a little while before people go right back to it. But that's OK, just gotta thicken the skin and tell BigRig where he can put it. BigRig's not bad though, just gotta know how to handle him. I've found the quickest way to shut him up is to offer to sell him your LS so you can leave the board. ;) He stops posting at you after that. Give him a chance though, he can be pretty entertaining once you get past his crusty exterior. Hey, want some real entertainment? Tell him how you bested some 18 wheeler on the highway, that turns his crank pretty hard and he gets really entertaining at that point. In fact, he'll probably post some drivel about how modern society can't survive without the 18 wheeler, how we'd complain if the stores weren't stocked, and go from there.

You offered to sell me ur LS? Damn me, I thought u said your wife. Well the answer is still no Telco.

Hey which reminds me, u still hold word to the fact u play with ur handbrake during slippery conditions? Any chance u might be doing that when u hill block them rigs out there?

Thats got more fun written all over it then all that tinfoil inside ur house.

K, I'm done ... Need new hobby soon, wanna buy my LS? I hate it so much I'm getting rid of it as soon as ... (Insert your excuse here)

Btw Tel, the rigs have dash cams also, you'll get busted one day .... Playing with fire, up to u ofcourse.

# we didn't start the flame war, but the web's been burning since the world was turning #

Yeah I didn't think so, you claim to be looking forward to my departure but won't put your money where your mouth is. Huge surprise, is that.

I've not tried using the parking brake on the LS to help control the car in slippery conditions, and I may not have to if I sell before it snows again. If I still have it when it snows I do plan to go experiment with it in a parking lot and will report back what happens for the use of others. I may not like the car but it doesn't mean others don't like theirs and I don't mind helping people out. On vehicles with more usable parking brakes, I don't think twice about using all the tools at my disposal to keep the car going where I want it to.

So far as brake checking a semi at the bottom of a hill, if confronted by the police all I have to say is I thought I saw something run in front of me. Doesn't matter what their dashcam says, it's my perception that matters and better safe than sorry I always say. Besides, I seriously doubt any tractor driver would want to run to the cops with a dashcam recording because it would show them instigating something and it wouldn't be my job at risk.

You know, there IS an ignore feature if I bother you that much. Feel free to use it, it won't bother me a bit.
