Rusty door top; this is pass door, drivers is the same
PB260009-1.jpg

is there a way to resolve this other than replacing the door?

The part is called a run Channel and Caprice said it is Aluminium under the rubber coating. When aluminium corrodes it is rust just a different color. No way to fix it no way to stop it.

If you really want, racebronco in Cali will get them out of a junk yard for you.

meh, I read Blackice's write-up on LOD...I could get the parts but sounds like a lot of work, i have bigger fish to fry....and the ends must justify the means, Ford made some poor material choices back then, i.e. temporarily reflective headlights, flawed alloy/aluminum trim etc

I really don't think its that hard of a fix, just remove door panel and small screws/bolts holding the bottom of channel in, remove old channel by sliding it out. Hardest part is getting the new one in without bending it, probably would be best done with two people to keep it from flexing..I would attempt removal of one on a junkyard mark to see how it comes out and practice on that so you don't f*ck yours up. That's usually how I learn to take stuff apart before doing it on my own car.
