What's the best way to deal with it. One of my jack points gave out and appears rusted. Also there seems to be very minor rust on the rear jack point, but I want to stop it while I can. Am I just screwed at this point or what?
 
Dang, on a 2006? Must be the extended winters you have. Only way to fix it is cut out the collapsed area and weld in new metal. Then do the best you can to paint it so it doesn't rust in the future. Use large blocks when jacking. Getting a winter beater for when there's salt down would really be the only way to prevent it from happening again.

If it is just the sandwiched metal that folded over, then you can probably hammer it back straight, wire brush it, and paint some etching primer on it. Paint it up and once again, don't use it in winter lol
 
Yeah, now im starting to wonder. Went and looked at it again, and it looks like its just sandwiched metal. Unfortunately this is my DD. Cant get around using it in the winter. Ill just have to try to wash it after heavy applications of snow salt...

I'm going to check the rear jack point again too, because maybe it was some paint or something that chipped off? Idk, it definitely seems weird for my car being an 06 I agree. Plus it was an Ohio car and my understanding is they dont get nearly as much snow as we do (since we got that nice big lake to our west)

I think I just might be paranoid lol
 
Meh, it looks like there are tiny bits of rust along the pinch weld at the bottom. Just little spots here and there, nothing too big but that jack point that was sandwiched, that part isnt looking healthy... Sigh. Thoughts?

Pinch welds are usually some of the first places to rust out. All you can do at this point is clean it up, protect it, and/or replace anything that is too far gone. For the future, they make jacking blocks that protect the pinch weld when you jack it, which will prevent damage and exposure that leads to rust.

Gotchya OK. So hit it with wire to get the rust off, prime it and paint it?

And we have that nice big lake to the North.

It snows plenty here, especially if you live in Northeast Ohio, in an area called the "snow belt".

Yeah, true, I just figured with weather mostly moving west to east you wouldnt get it as much, I stand corrected
 
Battling Slow-Plows on US-41 through Michigan, US.

Was on my way back from Washington/Idaho state line,
Bad Winter storms, lots of salt, choose to drive throughout the night.
 
The rockers are starting to look soft on my '03, though the car still looks good. I use a floor jack and place it under the bolts on the aluminum subframe. I never jack it using the rockers anymore.

yep youre screwed. powerslide it alongside your house and keep it as a parts car for your 'new' 7 yr old ls. or maybe you can keep it as your burnout mobile?

your son 'stoppy' started it. if he lets some of the 5 yr olds and their fathers (who he claimed to want to impress) videotape his powerslides and burnouts then posts them here i might drop it, but no guarantees.

never said shame on him, i just think its funny that he broke his advancetrac trying to impress 5 yr olds.

the more i watch it, the better i like it, rut and tanner crack me the hell up. not really sure whats going on with this season, they havent even had the stig put any crazy cars around the track yet.
