rust never sleeps

Oxholic acid (wood bleach) works great w/o the need for electricity. I use it all the time for my BMX bike restos. I even used it on a set of magnum 500's

I've never liked chemical methods of rust removal... I'm a mechanical removal fan... It's kool none the less.

torch the crush nut off. if you are careful you wont damage anything, if you arent careful, the worst would be having to replace the hub too, cheap enough though.

That method of rust removal was just written up in one of the rod magazines. I can`t remember which one, but it`s a very good article.

Oxholic acid works great on chrome and won't even damage decals. It also doesn't give off explosive gas or turn things black. I'm telling ya from experience it's the best SAFEST way. Just buy a rubbermaid or similar garbage can w/lid go to home Depot, Lowes, Menards, etc and buy two 1 pt containers of wood bleach, fill the can with water (don't forget to allow for displacement) and pour in the Acid. Now just place the parts in and wait 24 to 48 hours. That's it! No nasty gas, no fear of electrocution or blowing yourself up.

how would i get the old ones out

You've asked the question more than once... just hit them with an impact and the nut will come off, mine did... If you don't have an impact go up to a shop and pay someone to zap the nuts off...

It worked for me, but if for some reason it doesn't work for you I would just wire wheel the hell out of them and spray some penetrating lube on them and try again after you've soaked them good for a week or so.
