rough idle, oil on ignition coils......?

My car was running a lil rough the other day and decided to stop and check the code for the engine light. Said that there was a misfire on #3 cylinder. Took and apart and found that in the hole for the coil and spark plug... there was oil. replaced plugs and cleaned coils and ran fine. BUT WHY WAS THERE OIL IN THERE?

Valve Cover Gaskets.. I'm assuming you have a V8, but what year and mileage?

You need to replace the valve cover gaskets ASAP. If you fail to do so, the replacement coil will be ruined soon. Also, anytime you replace a coil, you need to also replace the spark plug.

There is/was a recall on those gaskets and any failed coils due to that. Check to see if your car is still eligable.

Then you have no warranty.. I would replace the valve cover gaskets ASAP and you may have to replace your coils also..
