So its time to change my cross drilled and slotted rotors.. i went to a website to purchase them and found out that there seems to be a difference in the 2002 lincoln LS rotors. I was asked if my car is prior of Nov 18 or was it made after that date? Why would they ask such a thing? Does it really make a difference?

Umm.....

i WORK AT A FORD DEALER I JUST LOOKED UM UP AND THEY ARE THE SAME FOR ALL MODELS AND ALL YEARS..
SO I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY WOULD DO THAT.

well.. i just ordered the rotors from LSKoncepts..

i want to order pads for the car next.. any recommendations?

i would agree on the ebc red pads, but they squeal like crazy.
Not if you get the shims from EBC. EBC has recognized this problem with the Reds and offer the shims free of charge. I'd recommend you call them if you have a set on your car now and they will send them to you free. Call EBC at (818) 362-5534.

i ordered the EBC reds.. should I order the SHIMS asap or what?
It wouldn't hurt to call EBC and have them when you put them on.

I just ordered EBC reds but didn't know about the shims. They're squealing bad. Would it be worth it to get the shims or just ride it out. Anyone know how long it takes for the squealing to stop? Other than shims, is there anything I can do to help the noise? I kept the stock rotors, and didn't have them resurfaced. Was that a mistake?

I have an intermittent squeal out of my new front brakes. I have Powerslot slotted rotors and EBC green pads. First of all let me say that I love the performance (when they aren't squeaking). Second let me say that the greens produce more brake dust than the OEM pads did (a bit of a disappointment). The greens came with shims but they are still pretty loud at times (~40% of stops have squeal). Any recommendations??

i believe ken knows about this.. something about ordering shims.. sorry i cant be of more help.. hopefully he will get in here soon.. :D

do the rotors have a smooth surface? or is there a tiny line in the middle?
mine squeal bad b.c i didn't have them resurfaced. and the little line in the rotor is still there after 5 months of stopping

Call EBC and they will send the shims for free. The number is few posts up.

permatex makes a pad dressing which stopps sqeeks; comes in a glue stick style container with a light blue cap (apply to BACK of pad, not the friction material!). You should be able to find it at any parts store by the gasket dressing. Also, you can always try using caliper grease on the back of the pads.

Thanks. I guess I'll call EBC and see how quick i can I can get those shims. They should ship them with the pads or at least give them to their resellers to send with the pads.

Wow, what's up with all the EBC squeeling? I've been using reds now for prob 10-15k on my BBK on my SVTF and no squeeling what so ever. I get more sqeel/sqeeking from my Wilwoods on my LS. Now that I need to address.....

Ken - the shims don't come with the Red pads automatically? When you buy them from your site they don't come with the shims? Why the devil not?
