Well I left for Fresno at 5:30 this morning. Got there at 11 AM, picked up the intake along with some gaskets and other stuff, and got back on the road. The 94 did great! I love driving that car. I got 28.2 mpg on the way there, and on the way back I used 89 octane since it was 2.60 and 91 was 2.80? With the 89 I got 31.1 mpg. I couldnt believe it. Plus I was going faster on the way home. Dont know why I got better mpg on the way home but I aint complaining about it. Got home at 4:30 pm and am gonna start cleaning up the intake after dinner. What a great day. Dont have any pics cuz I forgot my camera, bummer.

Great story and a great find. Read before how anxious you were to pick up those parts.

sounds like a fun trip :)

gas prices up that way by the 5 are BS, last year we went to San Jose and saw nothing under $5 :shifty: .........

i always get better gas mileage numbers on the way back home too, i dont know why though lol

Here are some pics of my $100 intake.

Is it normal for there to be oil in the intake? You can see it on the right side of the pic above.

I had all these big plans of polishing it tonight, but I am afraid I am going to F it up. It looks pretty good the way it is now if you ask me. Pretty clean anyway. I just cant see taking a sander to it! Maybe I will try a spot on the back where nobody can see it to make sure I dont mess it up.

be warned... it will take many hours of hell. and a power polisher is a must.. spent tons of time polishing the roots blower for my mustang notchback.

little oil always gets thru the PCV valve and eventually builds up inside........but that does seem a bit much on there.........looks like fresh oil on the first runner?

Yeah I was looking it all over and turned it upside down, then it started dripping on my shoes! But yeah, I guess it would come from the PCV huh. I couldnt figure out how it got there. lol
