Road trip nightmare

After completing 800 miles of my 1200 mile trip, I got in the car to head home and found no brakes in m car. Car started to leak fluid.
After finding a shop that's open on July 4 they show me a plug that blew out of the aluminum abs block.
I am 400 miles away with hardly any brakes.

How could this happen overnight with car parked?!
 
Made it home Ok somehow.
Found a used part in NY, have to go pick it up over the weekend.

I don't understand how could this happen. This is not a common thing. I did not hit anything, there were no leaks prior to this.:mad:
 
ever change a light bulb that decided to go out for no reason?

If thats the case I should feel lucky that it happened when the car was parked and not on the road.


Do I have to remove the fender? or Bumper to remove this? I coudlnt see well when the car was on the lift. I dont see it from the top with hood open. Can the lines be safely removed?

its in the left front bumper area, just remove the front left wheel, then remove the wheel well cover, its right there
 
If I'm thinking of the same thing were talking about, the lines may be rusted into the block (maybe not, if its tucked up out of the way) but if they are, and even if they aren't, be careful removing the lines from the block. They may twist and end up with a crimp in the line. Usually, if you take your time and are careful, the threaded fitting will come out, and leave the line untouched, but theres always that possibility.
 
Ok guys. Thanks. Ill get to it over the weekend.

Hope the lines come off easy. Maybe I will soak them with some WD40 few days before they will come out easier.
 
That may be a good idea. Like I said, even if you look at them and see no rust, it wouldn't help to give them a shot of WD40, just to make sure.

And they wont just crimp, or bend. You'll feel when they've had too much, and they should start to flex, thats when you know to start to take it easy.
 
use kroil oil or pb blaster and let it set for acouple of hours at least. try to tighten the thread before losening it .

Seems like some cars just strike back, you fixed the fuel pump problem and the car wanted to let you know "dont ever feel to confident", I have plenty of things to break and leave you in a bad position :)
