Who at Ford had the dumbass idea to put 20mm lug nuts on a car and put a 19mm lug wrench in the trunk?

I honestly believe that auto engineers, not just Ford, do stupid stuff just for sh!ts and giggles. I have seen various stuff on many different brands that just dont make sense. They know the end consumer is going to be left shaking their head. Kind of like cartoonist that put "hidden" scenes in animated movies.Who at Ford had the dumbass idea to put 20mm lug nuts on a car and put a 19mm lug wrench in the trunk?

who cares get a 4 point lug wrench and call it a day![]()

basically, are you saying that your OEM lug wrench is a size too small for the lugs? my stock OEM lug wrench never fit from the beginning either if thats the case..

If the lugs are not distorted, then you have aftermarket lugs.
To the best of my knowledge, all LS factory builds included 19 mm lug nuts, but distorted lugs, caused by using impact wrenches with high torque, tend to have that stainless skinny jacket rotate partially around the inside solid steel, making the lugs not fit on the factory wrench.
The lug nuts were improved in '03 and now they retain their shape so that the lug wrench CONTINUES to fit them after they've been off a few times.I guess that must have been one of the improvements in '03; the lug wrench in my '06 fits its lug nuts just fine, and the same was true of my '04.
Is there a definitive way to tell? I thought the Chrylser lugs were supposed to be solid? You almost certainly have replacement lugs, probably Chrysler OEMs.
yeah sounds like you have OEM product. Is there a definitive way to tell? I thought the Chrylser lugs were supposed to be solid?
