Would removing just the resonators of my stock exhaust change the sound and make it better?

Would it change the sound? Yes. I have never heard the sound after only resonator removal though. Only with different mufflers too.

Not much of a difference. I can hear it a little when I rev it at a stand still. But nothing when driving. If you want to hear a difference when driving then I would recommend getting the magnaflow set-up.

+1 but i would leave the resonators, i have a rasp and i'm thinking the res delete is the culprit.

That would be correct. Cheap way to fix that, go buy a couple cherry bomb glasspacks and put them in where the resonators should be. They're about $25 each rather than the $75 or $100 that you could expect to pay for OEM parts, and they do the same exact thing.

If you don't want the loud sound that come with the glasspacks, I believe you can just reverse the direction when you install them. IIRC, they have directional "fins" inside of them. I don't know how much an x pipe is, but a couple of those should take care of the rasp too.

Maybe some do but a cherry bomb is built the same way as your basic resonator. A pipe with a bunch of holes (looks like swiss cheese inside) wrapped with fiberglass packing and encased in a shell to hold it all together. Plus, if there is a muffler behind it, you wont hear the sound anyway.

leave the resonators.. becuase i deleted mine and diddnt have an exhaust u'll get a rattling sounding like u have soda cans hitting against each other when u smash out.. does NOT sound good.

I put two 4"x 18" SS. Magnaflow Rolled tips in place of my rear mufflers. that was all i changed and it sounds amazing. no rattles, no crackle, no pop. It just rumbles at normal driving and at cruise speed it has a faint hum. I am gonna try to get video up here some day.

i was under the impression that cherry bomb only made loud products. is glasspack the brand name? also, i still have my resonators, can i just put those back in? would it take the rasp away?

Sure you can have them put back in. That's what I would do if I were you. Also, did you do bigger pipe from the resonators back to the muflers?

I left my resonators on and cut off my factory mufflers and welded in straight pipe and kept factory tips and it sounds nice! Growl at idle if you stand behind car give it gas and it becomes more noticeable and can tell difference while driving with windows up or down. it is louder and wakes the car up but it isn't annoying or overly loud. at full throttle it sounds real mean but isn't obnoxiously loud at all. now my custom job is gonna be a different story! If it is too loud i don't give a crap! I like having something different. The resonators are gonna come off and be replaced with slp loudmouth resonators and gonna make the rest of exhaust 2.25 to match the factory set up i already have. i'm also going to weld in an h-pipe too! I hate x-pipes i think they sound terrible but it all personal preference. But for now my stock setup is great till then not to mention dirt cheap!

stock piping through and through. do you recommend bigger? i hate that rasp like you wouldn't believe. sounds so ricey

I wasn't saying it would help the rasp. I was just wondering since he pulled resonators. If it were me, if I were to have pulled the resonators and replacing mufflers, I would've switched that piping between as well.

i'll just put the resonators back on. that really sucks though, paid 80 or 100 bucks (can't remember) to take them off and now another 100 to put them on. S$%T!
