Hey, I love this site and have found so much useful info here! I finally have come across a question which I can't find anything on, though.

I have 2000 ls V6 which the idiot who had before me made some mods to I am spending some time and money undoing. One of the things he did was install some sort of drift logic in the computer (according to him) so he could use it for drifting. I've noticed this causes the car to shift at too high RPM and the check engine light is always on, plus who knows what else. The check engine light is probably also due to the ridiculously loud exhaust system he put on which I am sure messes with the emissions.

Anyway, my question: is there a way to reset the computer to the factory setting so it will run right again?

Thanks

If he changed the FLASH programming in the PCM using something like an XCAL and didn't include the XCAL in the sale, then you will have to go to a dealer to get the PCM reflashed.

The exhaust has nothing to do with the CEL. My daughter's (previously mine) 2000 V6 has had a Magnaflow exhaust for the last 160Kish miles with NO issue. That is UNLESS he had removed the cats; in which case you'll have to source a new set.

Have you had the codes scanned yet?

Sounds like that thing was beaten bad by the previous owner.....you maybe looking at many things that are effecting the performance.
