Did an oil change on the "beast" (00 LS V8) and am having problems resetting the it on vehicle check. I was able to reset the air filter with no problems. I get to the oil change warning, hit reset and it goes right to the air filter check...no reset! Any suggestions? Thank you ahead of time.

Hit the reset button when it says oil life 0% and it should say "hold if new oil" or something lilke that. At that point hold the button until it beeps and say "Oil life 100%".

Exactly.. Well put

There in lies the problem....it doesn't say that when I hit the oil part of the reset. I did the "push the status" button until I got to the oil life and held the reset and it just jumped over to the air filter reset. I will try it again tonight when I get home.

Press and release reset. Then you get a message to hold to reset. At that point, press reset again and hold it till it says 100%.

^ yea i always have to press it and release it a couple of times for it to reset, i never can get it to reset the first time i try.

There is nothing "easy" about these things is there? LMAO! Good thing I like the car. Would be dragging out the Escort again! LMAO

What an insult! lol

HAHAHAHAHAH. That thing is sitting in the yard collecting pollen and birds**t. Have had 5 offers to pay me $1000 more than I bought it for. Promised it to a young kid in the "hood" for a great price for his first car. He hasn't been back since he gave me $200 down on the price. In this forum thats probably all the car is worth!

The process is in the OM, pg. 25

1. Press the STATUS control to
access the System Check function.
Press RESET to reset oil.
2. Press and hold the RESET
control to set to 100%.
3. After a successful reset, the
message center will display OIL
LIFE SET TO 100%.

Ive never heard of any issues besides the tabs from breaking off and having to pull the center out to fix it.

matter fact one side of mine broke so theyre just hanging on by a thread and chillin.

Either your message center buttons are facked, wiring from buttons to cluster, or the cluster needs to be flashed..

If I remember correctly, the buttons are all on one wire, so it wouldn't be the wiring if the other buttons are working.

I, too, have a reset problem. It's just that my oil is no problem, but the cabin filter warning stubbornly refuses to change. Same details as spoken of here, but different function.
