I cant figure it out... maybe my audio guys did something wrong but when i turn up the amps more than half way i get engine noise when I drive around, so the only option that I have is to turn them down, but when you turn them down you dont get what you paid for lol 1000watts. any how from my understanding usually its the ground not being well grounded or the RCA Patch Cables running with the power cable, but thats not a problem on our car since the battery is in the back....:shifty: WELL MY REAL QUESTION IS WHO HERE HAS AFTERMARKET STEREOS AMPS AND WOOFERS AND HAS NO ENGINE NOISE WITH UR AMPS TURNED UP AND WHEN I MEAN UP I MEAN OVER HALF WAY? IF THATS YOU. HOW DID YOU RUN YOUR WIRES?

If you get a whining, you need to redo your wiring. The power wires and the RCA or any speaker wires should not cross or run together at any point. That can cause the engine noise that you are talking about.

I have 3 amps in my LS and I did all of the installs myself, and I don't get any engine sound.

Make sure that don't cross.

the wires dont cross, but yeah i guess i am going to tell the audio guys to rewire everything again with new rca's....

I think we all just need new alternators. The stock ones we have cant handle anything.

thats true as well, but who makes them? and where do we get them? is it worth it?

yea do your headlights dim too when the sub(s) hit cuz mine dim significantly

It is most likely a grounding issue - you must ground the head unit to the frame - not relying on the power connector to do that.

Most amps use the negative power input as their ground, and if in the rear of the car is nice and close to the battery and frame grounding.

The head unit is across the car (from the rear amps) and if not grounded the offsets introduced in the low-level inputs to the rear amps are magified by the amp (just like the music).

I would start by grounding the head unit securely to the car.

I have the same problem. I am going to ground the headunit and see if it improves as well. I will let everyone know.
