What were the problems associated with installing GEN 2 seats into a GEN 1 Mark VIII? Was it simply an inconvenience concerning the wiring, or was it more involved than that?

What about installing '97 XR7 seats? Those don't have as many of the luxury appointments of the VIII seats, but I do like the look.

Ford Taurus seats, while the frames won't bolt to the floor, Do the seats bolt to the Mark VIII frames?

Thunderbird SC seat are my first choice, but those are increasingly difficult to find.

I'm looking for another seat. My driver's seat's plastic frame has broken. What are the options, and what are the associated complications. I don't care about electric options, frankly, if I could find awesome seats that fit but were entirely manually, I'd be thrilled.

There was a thread about this a while back, the main thing I remeber with gen 2 seats into a gen 1 is that the electronics won't comunicate with eachother.

Why Taurus seats?? I hated the seats in our taurus, absolute garbage in my opinion

Maybe he meant Taurus SHO seats. I have a set from a 92 SHO, power everything, 4 way lumbar, and of course the awesome inflatable side bolsters. I've never gotten around to checking how much work it would be to install them in my Mark though.

that would make sense, SHO's had nice interior. The regular tarus seats are terrible. The leather ones aren't very nice either, just cheap feeling.

Yeah, I was thinking either the SHO seats, the XR7 seats, or the SC seats.

Frankly, I'd be happy with seats that had no power at all but were comfortable and supportive. I'm going to go check out the u-pull-it this afternoon and see what's there.

XR7 seats seats, though the wrong color, might be the way to go. They are nice, comfortable, with side bolsters, but more abundantly available than SC or Mark VIII seats.

...I hate these seats. I hate the wires. I hate the nightmare of gears, metal and plastic, that make it work. The plastic frames that crack. The metal frame on the track that snaps into two (I've seen several like this now).

...Maybe the best answer is to buy Recaro seats on Thunderbird tracks and do away with the headache.
