replacement fuel pump for 97 mark viii

What is the best replacement, preferably performance if I'm going to go through the hassle of swapping, fuel pump for a 97 mk8?

Walbro makes a good pump, however on the 2nd gen cars the ggs342, I think that's its number, takes some work to make fit (too tall). A SVT focus fuel pump will fit, just need to modify the connector. There's a good bit of discussion on this.

Gen 2's should use a PWM style pump, so the 'green top' SVT Focus pump is the one to use.
