So today i went to a friends house with a lift to change oil. While im there I decide to replace the thermostat. My friends dad is a genius "or im just not the charpest tool in the shed" because he discovered that the coolant hose leading into the thermostat was blazing hot while the hose coming out of it was still cool. Genius deductive reasoning! The thermostat is a little bit of a pain in the ass because the housing has two bolts that are put in upside down in a tight area. I took a victory cruis after we replaced it....no more over heating I hope for a while.....no onto my CEL and cat converter problem.....but im thrilled this one in in the books....later fellas thanks for the help so far.

As a general rule of thumb if you're having overheating problems, replace your thermostat first. It's a common problem and even if it doesn't fix the problem, it's a quick and fairly easy job. Glad you got it figured out though.
