I replaced my stereo. upon first time firing up the car, it took a few seconds of cranking to get it started. at first the little security light kept rapidly blinking, now it blinks in a pattern of one blink, then six blinks the entire time. what is going on? its pretty cold outside, (15F). could it be because of that

Research PATS code 16 online....sounds like one of the PATS boxes could be fried. That would happen if two wires were touched together and the battery wasn't disconnected while changing the stereo. If the battery was disconnected, turn the key to the 'ON' position for about 30 seconds then start it to see if it goes away.

That's a communications issue between the PATS (cluster) and the PCM. Sometimes this is a PCM power issue, but since yours starts, it may really be a comms issue. I would suspect that you messed up some of the wiring. You could start by removing (unplugging) the radio you added and see if that clears it up. If it does, you've wired into the data bus by mistake.
