Its about 90 degrees today so figured I would go out and wash the car, remove the striping and the badges off the back. This has probably been done many times before but I'm gonna post hella pics later tonight if I can figure it out.

If the pinstripe is painted on it's gonna be a pain in the ass. Badges, soften the glue up with a hair dryer. You'll need some goo gone or bug and tar remover.

Thanks for the tip.. Most pinstripes, if painted on, you cant feel. As in they should be flush with the paint instead of a bump when running your finger down over it so I'm hoping it would be easy. The letters should be cake, we'll see

Right, and it is much glossier. I think painted ones can be removed with some kind of wheel. You can also use the hairdryer trick on the pinstripe if it is tape.

i peeled mine off, very easy, just be careful not to scratch the paint trying to get the initial edge off.

Badges:

1. Park in the sun
2. Slide dental floss behind the badge
3. Peel remaining glue residue
4. Goo Gone or Rubbing Alchohol to remove further residue
5. Wash area and apply wax or polish

Pinstripes (Tape):

1. Heat the stripe with a hair dryer.

2. Peel the stripe slowly, pulling it off at a 90-degree angle while heating the next section. Do not overheat the paint, or it will be more likely to chip.

3. Use a plastic putty knife if you don't have long fingernails, but be careful not to scratch the paint.

4. Put some multipurpose cleaner and lubricant, such as WD-40, on a scrubbing pad (the type with a net covering) and rub off the leftover adhesive.

5. If the stripes are old, they may not peel off easily, even with heat. Soak them with WD-40 for 15 minutes and then try scraping.

6. Wash the car thoroughly with mild soap.

7. Wax and enjoy!

Pinstripes (Painted):

You'll need:

1. Masking tape
2. Paper
3. (1) can of Easy-Off oven cleaner (use the yellow can)

Test this on the gas cap door first just to make sure it wouldn't damage the paint (it's a lot cheaper to get that small door painted versus having a whole panel painted).

Use the masking tape and paper and mask off above and below the pin stripe... working on only 2-3 feet at a time.

Spray on the Easy-Off and let it soak in for about 2-3 minutes then take a rag and just wipe it off. You shouldn't even have to rub it off...it should just wipe right off with the foam from the Easy-Off. Then remove the tape and paper and use a wet rag to clean up the area. Water neutralizes the Easy-Off. Make sure you wear gloves. It's EASY.

After reading this post, i decided to remove the "lincoln" and "LS" badges and just leave the "V8".

It's not sunny out, so i used a blow dryer and didn't even need floss or anything. I could pull them off with my fingers. Took five minutes, WD-40...clay bar...cleaner wax... looks great.

Make sure you use a very jagged screwdriver to take it all off. If you really need to get in there then use a hammer and chisel. A railroad stake is even better. And if it leaves marks then use some 50 grit sandpaper to get rid of those too. Voila! a sleek, clean, car.

Good luck!

Waiting on hella pics!!!!

Im tryin im tryin! Could never figure out how to put them in the original post up top so check out my photobucket below.. Badges are removed and it looks much more clean! I took a real close look at the pinstripes and I believe everything would come out perfect EXCEPT the little Lincoln symbol on the passenger door only. It looks like my car has been wrecked :(, and the new door or whatever they did has the symbol painted over with clear coat; now that I stared at it they did a horrible job... Wish I had a better camera or I'd zoom in and show you.. Regardles the pictures are in the photobucket, sorry for the bad resolution on the close up of the symbol. Any ideas?

I forgot to thank "Tricky Dick" for that write up, that should def be a sticky somewhere if not already!!
