No. The system is under pressure at all times...unless there is a leak, that is.

Yep leaks 24/7.
Also, would there be any problems that might be expected if you were to use brand A refridgerant with UV dye then topping it off with brand B refrigerant without UV dye?
Small can, Brand A doesn't seem to have enough to fill the system and no gauge.
Large can, Brand B has a gauge included with the can.

Long as its all r134a does not matter. The small can you can use hose with gauge on it.
