well my rearend is starting to make some noises and i am looking to swap in a new one, i have a 2000 v6 with the 5sp manual transmission, i believe i have the 3.07 gearing and was wondering if it would improve acceleration if i switch to an automatic rearend, i think there is two available. what rearend would be more advantageous for accelleration?, thanks for the help-brian

The higher the number, the taller the gear - the better your acceleration rate.

Certain early 2000's had the highest available (that I know of), mine is a 3.58 I think.

There is a complete IRS for sale on eBay right this moment for $300. That may be the cheapest way to go!! Search for Lincoln LS in the Parts section.
