Rear Window Seal 97 Mark VIII

Anyone know where I can find a new rear window seal for my Mark? The dealer in my area no longer carries and I would like to replace this seal after repainting.
 
Hi,

You are not going to like this answer but the only way you can get the seal is to purchase another window. Sorry I couldn't give you a better answer, but this is the case.
 
True that. Just park at a Golf range for a day :) Oh, and make sure the insurance is paid up.

Actually for the price of a new window is would be cheaper than paying a deductible of $500 or more.
 
I thought I saw an ad here some where about someone who was making a new seal for that back window so you would not have to buy a new glass???? Ill check google.

That's almost worth the price. Good find.

You can do as I plan, and next time the car gets paint, the seal comes off and the glass gets flush mounted. It takes some body work to fill the gap, but should look great.
 
That piece doesn't actually seal anything, right? I would imagine you could just get some universal weatherstripping that would fit nicely around the window and look pretty decent.
 
I've heard of people cutting the lasagna off. Does this affect the window seal at all? Anyone here done this?
 
A few people have some good ideas such as filling the gap in when the car gets paint, or trying to find a seal that will fit or that can be modified to fit.

If mine was really bad then I would find something to make it look better!

Can't you just heat it up with a heat gun & then glue it down with some gorilla glue or something similar?

Even though $700 is better then the $2,000, it's still a chunk of change!!!
 
Do you have any pics of how it looks with it off? Mine isn't dry-rotted yet, but its starting to get all wavy on the edges.
 
im not refering to anything stock being cheepo, i thought you bought that cheep door edge guard crap, if you didnt someone did, and cut the trim down and put that over the remainder
