rear window de-icer/fogger

my rear window de-icer/fogger switch on the dash lights up, and after 5-10 minutes shuts off as if it has done its work, but nothing happens at the window.
Last winter was my first with the car, so I don't know how well it use to work.

How do you troubleshoot/fix the de-icer?

Most likely an open wire in the window grid. Another place for malfunction is the conection where wire's meets grid. The AP Stores sell a conductive re-connection glue if the connection there needs repair. You'll need a VOM to test the power supply at the grid, then the grid itself.
