Alright so does anybody know if it's possible to switch the factory amp over to just play vocals instead of bass?

On another note, how would I go about getting a tune on my car?

I dont know how the non thx radio is set up, but for the thx, there is an amp for the speakers and one for the subs. If the non-thx is the same, then just unplug the subs from the amp.

What are you trying to accomplish?

Getting a tune ON your car? Do you mean music tune or performance tune? If you meant performance, you need an sct device to tranfer the tune to the pcm, but you also need a tune to be written and loaded on to the device. Contact torrie from fastpartsnetwork to buy the device and get a tune from him.

Alright, so the speakers that are on the rear deck are subs only? they don't have the ability to be speakers as well? I was kind of wanting to just be able to switch the amp over to hpf so only vocals would play through those "subs"

But yeah I am talking about a performance tune, fastpartsnetwork.com or? And what exactly does a tune do for you? I have heard people locally talking about different types of tunes? Like a track tune, gas saving tune. They may not know what they are talking about lol

They're subs.

You can replace them with regular speakers and a new amp or install an aftermarket sub and amp and disconnect them. Or leave them alone. There's already 4 other speakers for vocals no need for 6.

And also the door speakers in the THX system are component speakers.

edit:

I see why you want to toss them. I have a 10" in the trunk but i still kept the rear deck subs...i find that they add some midrange bass that my sub cant. I did turn down most of the bass on the headunit up front and just let the sub in the trunk handle all the lows.

Yeah I may just turn the bass down all of the way on the stock subs and speakers. Considering I really don't want to have to re-run my rcas again for a different amp and speakers.

Thats what i did and it lets me turn it up higher without the speakers distorting. And i have a bass knob next to my leg so i can adjust bass on the fly without having to touch the amp.

for the record, the amp is full range, the signal being sent to it is not.

when you replace the head unit, if the signal being sent to the amp is not LPF'ed it sounds like sh!t as those speakers are not designed to play full range.

Rear factory sub speakers are not full range.

The rear factory sub speakers are not full range. Another problem is that 2002 and newer LS have the sub speakers improperly mounted. They are mounted above the rear deck. When driven hard they rattle. The speaker actually separates from the metal (this can be seen with the naked eye!). The speakers have to be glued in place top side and bottom side with a urethane or epoxy flexible bumper repair adhesive. Then dynamat or Q-pad has to be applied all over the flat areas of the deck. They all loose wiring has to be tacked down using soft butyl rubber (3M window weld). Now your subs will really work.

On a factory system the signal is tuned to cut somewhere around 100Hz to 120 Hz. This provides some of the bass that the 2 way door speakers don't provide at all.

An aftermaket touch screen will have a speaker EQ settings for front door speakers (low filter cut at 40Hz), rear door speakers (low filter cut at 60Hz), and the sub (high filter cut at 80Hz).

If you get the one way factory door speakers the system will sound better, but the bass to the subs will have to be cut below 100Hz which can't be done on a factory system.

The best sounding systems are the after market systems with the correct factory door speakers and using the factory tweeters.

You can get a track tune, DD performance tune with very firm shift, firm shifts, or soft shifts, gas saving tunes. It all depends what you ask for and the programmers writes for you.

I just had the performance tune with firm shifts, not too firm though.

Yeah I'll probably go with the performance with firmish shifts, gas saving, and something else...
