rear shock confusion

so i am looking for some good proformace shocks to put on my mark but cant figure out what fits and what does not fit. do the shocks have to be for an IRS cobra or do any mustang shocks fit? i want to get these http://www.latemodelrestoration.com...stable-Agx-Rear-Shock#customer_product_images the image makes it look like they will fit but i know the pics are not of acual parts some times. If anyone has other good shock suggestions plz post link to them.

Some have used '03/'04 IRS Cobra shocks (OEM Bilsteins), but you can look for any '89-'97 Thunderbird rear shocks. I went with Konis.

3 days ago, I just installed Monroe Sensa Trac for a 95 Thunderbird and also got rid of the factory mounts and put in solid steel shock mounts that I bought from Jamie. I had some irritating clunking going on but now it's pure quietness. Although they aren't Cobra shocks and maybe not made for performance but I don't drive a Cobra and these shocks were only $32 each and made the ride a whole lot better.

The same shock for a Mark VIII was $119 each because in their computer, anything for a Mark VIII is an automatic price raise. The 95 Thunderbird shocks mounted just fine. I'm not saying to get Thunderbird shocks, just saying that they are working for me and many many others have done the same.
 
i went with tokico hp blues pn HU3689 & HE3690 half the price of koni but non adjustable. i believe these are desighned for a lowered ride. with the tbird stuff you will need to tortch the rubber out of the stock 1 pc rear mounts and install the 2 rubber pieces. so far i am happy with them. keep in mind i also did a spring conversion at the same time. any 89-96 tbird rear shock will work.
koni's are the most expensive but you get what you pay for
 
one more question do people also use the 89-97 front shocks on there marks?

I'm thinking so but I still have air all around and I couldn't say "yes" for sure because I personally don't know but it seems like I have read where it's been done. I also heard the Mercury Cougar worked too but again, I just heard that.

Not sure how much it matters, but you have about 220lbs more on the Mark Viii then the tbird.

this is like the third time i have seen this so now I must post to correct
the curb weight of the V8 bird is 3725 the mark is 3765 or so
that is not 220lbs

My '95 SC and my '98 LSC are within 10 lbs. of each other as weighed on the scale at Englishtown, several different times...

It doesn't matter, even if there were ( I think DLF cleared that up) an additional 220 lbs. It's the same shock. They both mounted just fine and the ride is so much better now. Jamie has done this same swap many times using the Monroe Sensa Trac's for T-Birds without any issues. The ride feels good to me and when the car is shut off, it vents down just as it should and sets level. I couldn't ask for better for a $32.00 shock and $30.00 stainless steel shock mounts with all the hardware included and the main thing, the annoying constant clunking I had going on, even on smooth roads is gone.

My bad, I didn't drill down the specifications to the V8. :)
