Hey guys,
I'm trying to finish up the last of my wiring for the stereo system in my '01lsv8. I'm at the stage where I need to remove the rear seat in order to run the wires into the trunk. It looks like there are two clips on the front part of the seat (where the backs of your knees would be), and I assume that the bolts to unhook the bottom of the seat are on the back side. To remove the seat backs do I have to jam a ratchet down the crack formed when the seats are folded dow/n? Can anyone that has done this before let me know if i'm on the right track?

Secondly, how would you recommend getting the wire under the carpet from the centre console to the rear seat? I'm just going to try to force it under there, but is there any way that is easier than another?

I'm not sure what you're trying to remove, but if you mean the seat cushion part of the back seat (the part your "sit upon" sits upon), you release the front edge, then lift up and pull forward to remove the seat (at least that's how it is in my '06). I had plenty of room to fish cable without removing the seatbacks, so I couldn't help you with them.

FWIW, on my '06, the front edge of the seat is held in by two pins that are caught by a guillotine-style latch; IIRC, you pull towards the front of the car on a plastic piece, and it releases the pin (there's one on the passenger side and one on the driver side).

I fished the cable bundle from the center console along the hump to the rear seat, then along the rear seat around to the existing cable path. There has to be a better way than that, though. There is a cable path that runs along the sills on both the passenger and driver side of the car, but I didn't feel like disassembling the B-pillar interior trim to get past it.

Like I said, I did this on an '06; if you have a pre-'03, it may be completely different.
