My car did same thing on pass side. One good thing about that area is its a small "compartment" and can be done easy. I sheet metaled the area and bondo blended the whole area eliminating the lower seem. I can take some pics tomorrow if you want. Mine was worse then yours. Looks like you can get away with just cutting out bottom rot and welding in patch. Fill sand paint.

cut out bad, replace with new sheet metal...no need for a donor piece...seen lots of experienced body guys have no problem fabricating there own replacement patch and you cannot even tell....in fact my car is just starting to pop and will be getting the similar treatment but probably not till next year...unless i find a mark viii BOB gen 2 in my price range with no rust...but that wont happen where im at

I had the body shop cut out the seam where the rocker, and quarter panel meet and patch it, and he cut out chunks of the rocker welded new sheet metal in and covered the rockers in under body paint

Cut it it and find a donor car with good rockers.

Sh*t at that point you better really love your car cause that's some major work..almost easier to find another solid car and swap over the stuff from your old one..if that lower rocker is rusted you know damn well more rust is going to start appearing.

Ok I just bought a welder to repair my quarter panels wondering wut size sheet metal would be good also wodering wut size is usually used when making subframe connectors and braces

Most likely you're gonna find a lot more than just the outer panel full of rust. If you're going to try and tackle this yourself, be aware that the rocker panel area is the most complex on the whole car. Three separate panels in there and they're all probably rusted to hell. They rust from the inside because the moonroof drains into the rockers (that orange tube). Why, I have no frikking clue.

If I had it to do over again, I would have just bought another car like someone else suggested. The shop that did mine has some very talented people (the place Jeremi takes all his cars), and it was a major pain in the ass for them even with a rocker that was cut out from another car. I'm not trying to discourage you, but just want you to be aware that if you want to do it right, it's gonna suck.

I'm not really worried about it the cars a piece of crap so I figured I'd give it a try I was looking for an excuse to buy a welder anyway I'm kind of all set with swapping everything over I thought about it but if it came to that I think I would rather just sell it or trade it in

Mines definitely not as bad as the one in those picks I have my interior gutted and I can see most of the space inside the rockers but there's that foam there so who knows

The area with the lighter colored foam surrounding the sunroof drain is a different compartment (The one you can see from inside). The worst of it is directly below it in the rocker. From the pics you provided it is pretty bad and will only get worse.

If mine ever get that bad i'll be purchasing chrome rocket panel covers. :)
