Hi everyone,

First post.

My wife has a V6 Lincoln, '04 with about 100K miles on it. I don't drive it much, but noticed that it has a shudder when shifting gears sometimes (maybe from 3rd to 4th, could be 2nd to 3rd). She says it has always been like that as she bought it used before we met. We took it to the shop, the guy changed the fluid and filter and added some Lucas additive, it shifts smoother, but still occasionally does this weird shudder when up shifting. The mechanic said is this a normal thing but does not seem so to me. Can anybody shed any light on this?

I also need some help getting the rear door panel off of the drivers side. The window will roll up, but not down. If you roll the window down, the glass stays up until if falls on its on and I am afraid that it is going to break if it keeps doing this. After it comes down, it will roll back up without issue. I'm guessing it is off the track or something, but I don't know. Not sure how to get the panel off to take a look at it.

My guess would be coilpacks for the shudder,

and....

A broken window regulator in the door.

I have a gen one and the door panels are easy to remove just find all the screws and give it a little muscle.

Both extremely common and should pretty much be expected to happen. Just search the forum for help they have been discussed many times.

I just replaced window regulator three yesterday.

2 screws are hidden behind a cover in the door pull, both front and rear doors.

Wow those coil packs seem to be the root cause for lots of issues on this car. The only time I notice anything is when it is shifting and then not always, but I'll keep that in mind and I'll drive it more to check for a miss.

They are not coil packs. Coil packs have two or three coils and fire four to six plugs. They use spark plug wires.
They are COPs. Coil-On-Plug. It is one coil in each COP that fires one spark plug. There are no plug wires.

I have seen other cops that have no airflow and are in just as hot of an environment. The difference that stands out (to me, anyway) is that they are much bigger than the ones used on these engines. Maybe they tried to get too much out of too little?

(Yes, I know the part stores still call them coil packs.)
