Thinking about replacing my rear deck subs with an aftermarket speaker of some sort. I've found a lot of conflicting information as to wether they are 6x8 or 6x9. Any thoughts on this? Also, any idea one what the factor amps are rated at for the rear decks?

the two mote common things I do in that situation is just remove them for installing a real sub, the extra height can help a little to be able to push some boxes further back in the trunk under the rear shelf.

or replacing them with full range speakers, disconnecting the rear door speakers, and rewiring it so that the new speakers are now the rear speakers, the lower rear door is such a terrible location because of how low they are, all sound coming from them just gets so muffled. however without a real sub, this causes you to lose so much of the deeper bass that the factory subs produce.

Or install 2 shallow mount 10" subs in a custom rear deck enclosure. It is what I will attempt, if that doesn't work I will either make custom enclosures like fastlls once tried to or just get the ebay box.

A dedicated 8" sub has approx +1/3 more surface area than a 6x8" oval. Usually a better stroke as well, so it all adds up. A bit of metal trimming and you should be able to make an enclosure under the rear deck without taking up too much space for a modest system. Still have access to the spare tire and room for groceries.
*edit* saw the part about factory amp, my post might not apply.

the cdt ones i have, they are good but the power cuts by half since the factory ones are 2 ohms and cdt are 4ohms the factory is a 90watt amp. the factory speakers are 45watts 2ohms.
