Rear Calipers

im going to be working on my rear brakes, so when taking off the rear caliper, i know you must unhook the ebrake cable first, its like 2 steps, unhook the cable from the end clip and then from the caliper, has anyone done this?? is there a simple way to unhook this part? thanks

I've done it before, but I don't recall all the details. I know that it was a little tricky, but not too hard. Only a pair of pliers was required to disconnect the parking brake cable.

has anyone replaced rear calipers before? i just dont want to break any of the ebrake cable components, thanks

Removal

WARNING: Use of any other than approved DOT 4 or DOT 3 brake fluid will cause permanent damage to brake components and will render the brakes inoperative.

WARNING: Brake fluid contains polyglycol ethers and polyglycols. Avoid contact with eyes. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. If brake fluid contacts eyes, flush eyes with running water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention if irritation persists. If taken internally, drink water and induce vomiting. Get medical attention immediately.

CAUTION: Brake fluid is harmful to painted or plastic surfaces. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, immediately wash it with water.

1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
2. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.




3. Disengage the parking brake cable end from the parking brake lever arm.
To do this just yank on it with some pliers. [youll see what I mean]



4. Remove the parking brake cable and conduit.




5. Remove the caliper bolts.




6. Remove the caliper flow bolt and remove the caliper.

o Discard the copper washers.

Installation






1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

o Use new copper washers.
o Bleed the brake system.

I dunno, the manual just says to unhook it for that first step, like there's nothing special about it or no tools needed.

i got it guys, it wasnt too hard, i held the spring in with one hand, and pulled on the cord with pliers with another, then for the stupid metal" conduit from the brake caliper part" i put some pull pressure on it, and pushed in the 3 pins one at a time, then it wiggles out, thanks!
