How the hell do I compress it in and is there a tool

It's a big, fat PITA too. I hate doing the rear pads these cars. Somebody may have a simpler way, but I take the caliper and cradle off, remove the rotor, put the cradle and caliper back on, and use the tool and a ratchet with a 4" extension to crank the piston in. Every Ford vehicle I've ever had with rear disc brakes have had those "twist-in" caliper pistons. Even my old '87 and '88 T-Bird Turbo Coupes had them.

It's called an actuated caliper...and you can push the piston back into its bore with a pair of channel locks... The actuated caliper tool is nice, but not necessary. Just spin the pistons clockwise, make sure that when it's all the way in, that the 2 dimples in the piston top are pointed at 12 and 6 o'clock in the caliper body (if you were to have the caliper laying on a table

the in-board pad should have nipples on it that fit into the piston dimples, if the nipple isn't in the dimple the pad will sit cocked on the anchor bracket

if you've tried to just push it back in without spinning it on the actuator screw (located inside the caliper) you've damaged the screw and the caliper will need to be replaced
