So I'm thinking of ways to swap out the fake plastic crap from my LS with REAL wood. I work in a wood/finishing shop, but we dont do the type of woodwork this would require. But eitherway, I have some really good idea's for the interior of my LS.

I was wondering, has anyone ever pulled any of the lincoln ls interior trim off (the plastic wood stuff)? Is it thick solid thick peices or what? I'm wondering how to go about this. I could perhaps use a combo of veener and solid wood.

For example, the front dash, like where the A/C and radio controls are, they could be pulled off and sheeted with a real nice exotic veener. And I was thinking, the thicker plastic parts like on the sides of the doors could be replaced with real hardwood. I think this would look really good IMO.

Plus, I could use any type of wood I wanted. There are alot of VERY exotic and sexy wood types out there to use. Not only that, I can stain and finish it any way I want.

I was also thinking about doing a custom sub box in my trunk out of wood and putting a very high quality finish on it, thats something I have never seen done before.

here is some of my work: http://custom-cabinets.org Just scroll down where you see "cabinet pictures" on the left hand side. Here is the other company page: http://jwpincorporated.com

Can't speak to the earlier models, but the 03+ are real wood. The finish is so smooth it looks like plastic, but it is not. It was a selling point, and was featured in many reviews.

I have an '01 and the only wood thats real is the shifter and the steering wheel. The rest is plastic.

Here is a quote from an Edmonds review "The 2004 model year also saw interior improvements designed to give the Lincoln car a more upscale ambience (real walnut trim found its way to the options list) along with more storage space."

I think it can be done. Just pull the plastic stuff off and install the new pieces with molding tape. Were you just going to do the dash, or did you want to do the doors too?

Oh, btw, I prefer exotic peckerwood! :D

I would love to see a dark stained burlwood like some of the Jags and a couple of M-Bs have.

BTW peckerwood? Is that a hard wood?:D

I thought peckerwood was slang for a country bumpkin! Is it a real wood?
