Put it right where the messege center is, behind it as if it were built in..I wont do it cuase i like it the way it is but it sure would look sharp. Anybody thought of doing this?

Had that same thought just the other day but my problem would be powering it off and on and using the touch screen. Then I also thought about a message popping up on the factory display. How would you see it?

I'm going to mount mine down real low on the windshield and hard wire it and come up through one the defrost vents for the power cord so that it goes straight up into it. Mine plugs in from the bottom. Stupid ass place to put it but it is what it is. Only paid $40 for it and don't travel enough for it but it is nice to have and see what street you're coming up on. I just put mine on map lol.

thats how mine is now. Hardwired, the cord is hidden behind the weatherstripping then right to the fuse box.(Turns on and off with the ign).My only problen is wich one to use..I have a 4.3" but the speaker is broken or the smaller 3.5" that works completly..Both Megellan, same features just one has a bigger screen.

Mine is an Insignia 4.3", POS really lol. It's kinda slow at start up but it doesn't have fat edges and it's slim. I think it's a NAV-01 and it doesn't come on by itself. Wished it did but again, I don't travel anywhere. I went to Florida in October and that's the first time I have been out of state since I went to buy the car from Jamie in Feb.

The black on black 94 I had that exploded only had 19K miles put on it from 2005 to Jan 2010 if that tells you anything. The car lives most of it's life inside the garage all by itself. Don't need much navigation for that lol. I only bought that unit to help a friend out. He needed money and it was like new condition so I gave him $40 for it and then find out they sell for right at that price. Personally if I was going to buy one for actual use, I think I would go with Tom Tom. Hell, Mapquest has never steered me wrong if I was going somewhere where I didn't know the roads. The one below is what I have.

i have mine mounted to the far left of the instrument cluster, covering the engine temp gauge. its hardwired in so it comes on and off with the car and i never have problems with glare or anything

I wonder if mine is hard wired, if it will come on with the ignition? Have to try it and see I guess.

nolimit, i rarely use mine either. But i have it so i might aswell use it. Better then keeping it in the glovebox or armrest cluttering things up.
As far as the hardwiring, i've come to find out some electronics don't shut down automaticly. All depends on what your hardwireing. My mp3 player for instance will turn on with ign but not off. So i put it on a power saver for an hour so i dont have to worry about turning it off. And its always charging so i dont have to worry about it dieing on me. My radar and gps do turn on/off which is nice though.
