Radio & Speakers Question

I have a 2001 non-sport V8 with the in-dash 6 disc player and only the four door speakers. No rear shelf speakers. At the junkyard i found the factory sub box and amp, bought it and put my own speakers in it, and proceeded to hook it up with the factory wire harness that was in the trunk behind the carpet. No sound. Nothing. Thought it might be the amp, so i bypassed it and went straight from the harness to the speakers, and still nothing. Any ideas on why? One other question; does anyone know which radio dash kit looks better? I can get the American International LLS-K580 for $20 shipped or the one offered by metra for $30 shipped? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yeah I did the same thing on 05'. Seems that the wires do not connect from behind the radio. So I had to get the 4th connector for the back of the radio and run 4 wires to the main harness connector on the botton left kick panel and connect there to send the signal to the rear amp and speakers. It works now. You will nee a wiring diagram for you year car. to see where all the wires and the colors go. Good luck!!
