So, I have done a few before on other cars, piece of cake. This one already has an aftermarket deck, and everything looks fine and seems to be professionally installed. I don't have the factory amp, as the car didn't come with premium jbl sound system. Now, I have everything hooked up correctly, or so I thought. My amp will not turn on at all. Maybe a bad ground? Where do you guys ground it at? Also, the power connection input on the amp, (figured this is probably why it's not turning on)....where does it wire into at on the deck? Figured the amp would at least turn on with a good ground and 12 volt supply? Excuse me for not being knowledgeable enough about car audio. =/

I have a 25 farad cap that is mounted into the arm rest are of the back seat. i am grounded to the bolt that holds the back rest in place for the back seats. if you take the bottom cushion out you will see what im talking about. you can ground there just clean it up with a wire brush or something. try to mount your amps with in 3 feet of that spot for proper grounding. also make sure you have a remote connected as well. if your remote wire is junk then your amp wont trigger.

Do you have the amp turn on wire hooked up?

And I grounded my two amps and extra battery to the driver aide rear shock tower in the trunk. No issues.

Well, I have no idea now haha. I guess mine did have the JBL premium sound? I can only find two tweeters, one in each door though. Factory speakers have been replaced, and I see the amp is still in the trunk, along with the 10 disc cd changer, but am not sure if the amp is still working?. Could this be interfering with why mine isn't working? Anyhow, I just left it alone, since I am way better at hooking up cars that are just plain janes. I hooked it up in a few places, and the amp never turned on, the ground would spark occasionally, but not very often at all. The amp turn on wire? The only ones I have are the ground, battery, power connection (for the remote) and my two channels, and another thing called sp level signal sensing turn on. I may just leave it alone, and just replace the speakers in the doors and in the rear, they are crappy anyhow. Here is a link to the amp, don't knock me, got it for free.

Please please please tell me you meant the remote wire.

Ok, so you bought the car with just the head unit and you're trying to hook up the amp. Is the Kenwood being used for subs or the interior speakers?

Did the radio work when you got the car? What does the wiring behind the h/u look like? Factory or aftermarket speaker wire? Any premium sound adapters or line out converters?

If the amp is to be in known working condition all it needs to turn on/work is a remote wire(Blue/white wire) from behind the h/u, 12v from the battery (CHECK THE FUSE) rca's from behind h/u and a ground. If all of those are hooked up and it's still not working then I'd have to say the amp is bad.

Check the 2 fuses on the amp.

Since you were playing with loose connections while the battery was still connected anything is possible as to why it isn't working...

Pictures would be nice.
