I think my amp took a chit.

I lost all high frequencys while driving today. The speakers were crackeling and popping like crazy, even when I completely turned the radio off, then no more highs.

I am still getting the bass but i believe the signal comes from the head unit, and not the factory amp.

So my guess is I need a new factory amp.

The best part of this is, we are driving 800mi home from vacation on thurs, and at the moment have no radio.

I may try to find a local junkyard here in VA that might have an amp.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!!

I forget if the tweeters have there own seperate plug into the amp but i'd check that first.

dont even wast your time looking for a Mk Viii in a junk yard in norther va. i have called them all when i was looking for a amp. i had no luck at all.

Well i just got in the car today and the crackeling and popping is back, but so is the sound, at least temporarily.

I dont know wether to change out the amp or not.

I really would hate to buy a head unit and amp when I have like 4 head units at home that work perfectly.

It seems to only do it when it has warmed up.
