radio and nav swap

anyone out there try to put an factory 04 6 disc and nav setup into a 01 ls yet and if so how well does the bezel fit afterwards is there a lot of fab work or am i better off making something
 
Do you have this unit already or are you looking at getting it from somewhere?
 
Waste of money. Don't do it. You are better of with just buying an aftermarket unit.
 
ok maybe a nice touch screen. but i was just after that factory look and fit. just want everything nice and tight. dont care to much for most aftermarket crap it always ends up looking hacked even if you spend a good amount of time trying to get it to fit right
 
yeh that is a nice clean install big jingle for that head unit though and the bezel you made that ? or ordered it.

i still got a little ways to go before the head unit. stuffing in my headlights tomorrow eibachs are on the way and still searching for some senta rims
 
nice site. now another question about your head unit can you kick up the nav from your i phone right on that screen and controll it to ??? and what head unit is that if you can
 
No you can't do that, but I think this is what you are talking about though: http://avic411.com/?p=70

It allows you to find locations on you i phone and send it to your head unit for direction. I don't know what other brand Navi units can allow you to do.
 
hell the one under that is better i wont even have to use my phone. but like i said the head unit is gonna be a little down the road maybe next month gotta get my lights in tommrow and finish lowering it first then find my rims
 
yeh got the right side in left one came today covered the gap nice dident wire it yet all i had to do was cut out a spot in the header panel to get the ballast to fit so the headlight would drop down
 
So what do you have a gen 2 lse bumper? I got the 06 bumper, 03 headlights but I'm not putting everything on until I get the whole car painted. Did you have buy the wiring harness to plug up the lights?
 
06 lse bumper 04 hid headlights and the parking light wires i took off the old headlights and swapped the bulb from the clear to amber and im going to hunt around the dealer tomorrow and see what i can make up for the rest of the harness ill prob cut up the rest of the old harness thats still wired off the car but it looks like its short by 2 wires ill figure it out tom and hit you back and let you know how i made out
 
how did the install go did u have cut up the harness or was the kit pretty much plug and play.and leasr77 thats def not an hid harness i just looked again when i go to work tom [coloney ford ] ill check with parts and see if can get a part # for the hid harness i thnk im just gonna pull out the wiring harness book [evtm] and try to get mine to work off the old harness
 
oh non hids should be nice and easy to wire up even with out the new harness but if thats what your doing then thats the right harness you need if you dont feel like cutting and splicing and soldering
