and won some money. Some kid pulled into the lot and a friend of mine and my brother started to talk to him a little bit and he asked what we were drivin.. We told them... just a mark vii and viii. He kept insisted to see my bottle so I popped the hood.. nothing... he had a clamped on autozone filter and the tb tube didnt look too secure.. at that point I wasnt too worried about it. We drove to the spot the kid requested. Handed my buddy in a 91 stang the money.. he and 3 other people went down to the finish line... Got him by about 4-5 cars. I didnt get it on video though unfortunately.

Really? Im kinda suprised. A buddy of mine just took his 02 z28 6 speed to the race track and ran pretty well. mid 13's. I guess its alot harder to hook up on the street though. Good job.

I would have to say that either the kid din't know how to drive, or the car was a pos, cause my buddy on spray had a hard time taking down 6 speed camaro/trans am/firebirds on the street.

Yeah, the LT1 f-bodies aren't too quick. The 98-02 LS1 cars, you aren't going to touch without a lot of work though. Nice kill. I love the look on people's faces when they get beat by a lincoln!

yeah cause 13.8 from the factory is not to quick
WHAT! you don't think that 13.8 is quick for a factory car and the
Z28 ran a 14.1 Lincoln is not even close

nice kill though got to love fast cars with out the driver mod

now here's the catch with those ##'s u tossed out there

***those are from people who know how to drive, not some punk a$$ kid who got handed the keys to mommy and daddys car for the night***

Ive beat a lot of things i shouldnt have with a lot less cuz i could drive and the other moron could not.

Great kill...i hate F-bodies almost ever driver of an F-body thinks they have the fastest thing on 4 wheels...even the V-6 F-bodies...

13.8 is an LS1 camaro, and yes I do think that is quick for a factory car. What he beat was an LT1 camaro, as in 93-97 vintage, which in stock form ran mid-14s. I'm not saying they were slow, just that they aren't anything to write home about, and a slightly modded mark shouldn't have a problem beating one, or at least keeping up.

those are lt1 numbers ls1s ran 13.6 in the 1/4 and the slowest lt1 was the convertible with an auto witch we have and it stock ran a 14.3 in the 1/4 with me driving and with exhaust ran a 14.1 on a 102 degree day

I wasn't aware they were that fast. I always thought they were mid-14 sec cars. I know on the street my almost stock 89 XR7 5-speed would keep up with them just fine, and the ones that I have driven never felt that quick.

EVERY car is different. I actually got beat by an auto ls1 bird by a tenth. Bone stock of course. I beat a stock auto lt1 by a tenth when I was running 14.8s. Ive seen lt1s range from 14.1 up to 15.0.

Well all the LT1 f-bodies that I've driven were beaten half to death, so maybe that had something to do with it. Honestly though, I'm really surprised how close in performance they are, cause having driven a few of both styles, the LT1 cars just feel like they should be faster, while the LS1s are so easy to scare yourself with. I'm not a fan of the 4th gen styling that much anyway, so when it comes to f-bodies I'll just stick with my TPI-swapped '80 formula.

I used to hate the LT1 F bodies to until the wife's the ones I had driven before were crap and to drive a nice one is way different changed my whole view on camaros

I had a 3rd gen Formula with a LT1/6spd swap. Cant compare it with an LS1 car as I have never driven one but it was a fun car. With a custom CAI, headers and SLP exhaust it held it's own.

My 94 Z28 was running 13.8's at 100 with an A4 and 3.27's. Only thing it had was a catback and CAI. It was .8 and 3 mph faster than my stock 94 Mark VIII. The LT1 was no speed demon, but respectable for something of 1994 vintage. A converter along with some 4.10's/4.30's and a T-lok rear would have had them pretty damn close.

A good tune 2.73 A4 LT1 car should be low 14's minimum. My A4 94 ran a 13.8 with BS mods. There are plenty of LS1's (and I have witnessed quite a few in 4 different states) that run very low 13's. There are quite a few LT1's that are like the Mark's, they have not been kept up and are slower than they should be. I will take the Mark's smooth ride and sleeper status of the rattle box F-body though.
