i didn't know if there were specific models or something that wouldn't work for the LS with an xcal I thought it was just like ford/GM/dodge...., but will a xcal II 9415 work for the LS? the guy sellin it says it works on fords... but the LS isn't mentioned anywhere specifically. just one of those things i like to be sure of first.

yes... you will need to uplad a tune from SCT or your local tuner... then it will be converted to a 9400..

and a follow up: plugged in device to computer, it reads "install vehicle, press sel to begin" ... when you hit select, it gives the option to "install tune" AND "return to stock" ... does that mean its locked or unlocked?
and device info reads: 5 changes left / status = aftermarket

It still has the previous auto tune on it which will not work on your vehicle, locked.

You will have to get it to a SCT tuner like ILLS or Torrie to correct and have your own tune tied to your auto vin.

Yes it is going to cost more money.
