Quick Question

I have an 01 LS V6 and when i use the SST it always starts in 2nd gear unless you accelerate heavily and it will shift into 1st on its own. If i try to slap down in 1st it wont. My dad has an 05 LS V8 and his starts in first. Are they programmed to do that so i dont blow up the V6 or should it be starting in 1st?

First Gens (00-02) are programmed that way from the factory. Get a custom tune and you can start it in first.

The Gen1 did not meet CAFE standards unless it started in 2nd (and not WOT).

The Gen2 meets CAFE - with the improvements to intake, exhaust and VVT - so it could start in 1st.

thanks everyone, is it worth the cash for that sct xcal2 or 3 or whatever (dont know anything about them), is there really noticeable gains on the v6?

how does it effect the car though as far as a daily driver, plus i had other things in mind such as eibachs, 35% tint and pioneer avic f900bt
