Quick Question Front Bearing

I just started hearing the vibrating hum of the front wheel bearing, but what my question is do you need any special tools like bearing puller exc..... I've done my rear in which I needed a puller, but the front comes as an assembly so im not sure. I live 30 miles from a parts store and dont want to have to drive back.

All you have is one large nut about 23 mm. You will need a special socket that fits.

Take off the wheel. Take off the Caliper, the rotor comes off then the hub.

Not a hard job. Just get the right torque when putting the hub back on and the caliper.
 
Sweet deal, I got a socket set that goes up to 36mm and a torque wrench that max's out at 300 ft/lbs.

I have had good luck with NTP.

Best to replace in pairs since they seem to wear in pairs, which makes sense. It really is an easy job. Although new nuts are recommended, I re-use mine :D
 
Just did the pair on my new 98 lsc last night.........note the front nuts that hold the hub and bearing assembly on were 36 mm in my1994 gen 1 and 35 mm in my 98. I just found out late last night and drove all over town looking for a 35 mm. If you can't find one use a 1 3/8 it will work. The torque is 250 ft lbs. The recomend using a new nut but my friend works at the dealership and said no biggie to reuse it if it is good and just shoot a little blue locktite. best to replace the hub assembly ,pressing bearings etc will take extra time and can be a pain without proper press. Pull wheels,pull rotor and calipers,undue nut and light tap pops them right off for both my cars so far.
 
Price was 122.00 my cost up here in Canada, but that's jobber price at Part Source and 23.00 for my new socket.
 
These front hubs are sealed units and are not rebuildable. Stay away from the cheap ones you have listed. BCA is an acceptable bearing as well as SKF and Timken. Rock Auto is showing these brands and at a very attractive price as well. Check it out ($66.00 - $56.00). These were OEM s to FOMOCO.
 
Well I got it done last night and it was easy. I changed the oil on my car swapped the bearing drove it around afterwrds and bought a pizza all in under 2-1/2 hours. I like those fixes. I ended up getting the 114.00 Napa bearing thats the only bearing I could find in Fargo ND. My nut looked ok too to i just reused it.
