I have a 2000 LS Sport with the X3 with a custom tune by Torrie. Car is running a little ruff. I want to reinstall the custom tune stored in the X3 to see if it helps. Do I need to return the car to stock or can I just install the tune. The car has been running with the custom tune for 7 months and 8000 not to easy miles. Thanks

doubtful it will help...

but to reflash you dont have to stock first

I highly doubt it's the tune. A lot of people misunderstand what a tune will or won't do. Unless your car started running rough when you uploaded the tune it is most likely not going to be the cause of your problems. Is your car throwing any codes out? Also, when was the last time it had a tune up and what all was replaced?

When you let off the gas in Park or very low speed the RPM,s stutter a bit before it levels out at 500 to 600. When I first tuned it the car ideled a bit higher.

Diag showed p1000 power loss, cleared it, then flashed with the same tune. The power is back and the gear shifts are much better. The question now is why did this happen? When I cleared the codes did I bypass a warning of possible engine failure or harm.

when you clear a code you dont need to reflash the same tune. When you reflash it, you shouldnt have to reset codes. But all that being said, no clue what happened. If the code comes back after 2 or 3 starts, chase the problem. If not, then the code popped up for some reason and you needed to clear it.

Diag showed p1000 power loss.

P1000 means the codes were cleared or the PCM was reflashed.
It wasn't there before you reflashed the PCM

It just means the obd2 drive cycles have not completed.

right - the P1000 will not clear until you have driven through the emission cycles - it does this to prevent people from clearing CEL light just before trying to pass their emissions test (hiding an issue).

Mark - was that you that called yesterday? Sorry I missed you, I was playing hockey and had you on the list to call back today.

Yes it was, wanted to talk to a LS owner who knows his stuff before I start pressing buttons as to not wipe the ECU clean of all info, OPPS. Hockey is a great sport, did you see USA spank O"CANADA. First Hockey game I went to was the Cal Golden Seals. Seals moved and became Northstars and now are the Dallas Stars.
