What other pullers can be used during the clockspring repair? I can't find a flywheel puller to rent.. three uhhh.. prong (?) 2 ton puller is the closest i've seen.

I used a three pronged puller when I did my clockspring this summer. It took a few tries as it kept spilling off the steering wheel but I finally got it.

auto parts stores

Many auto parts stores will lend them to you. A two prong will work too. Pullers are dirt cheap. Sears? Autozone lends them for free. Just ask for a steering wheel puller. Be sure to mark your steering wheel with a pen or permanent marker so you can line it back up correctly. Just put enough pressure on the puller to create some tension, then tap the steering wheel and it should come right off. You don't need to remove the under the dash cover, there is enough room to slide the clockspring straight out along the steering column. The clockspring has two electrical connectors, detach them, then pull down on the clockspring because it has some plastic pins that hold it in place then pull out.
Disconnect the battery and wait ten minutes before you disconnect the air bag. It takes about 1.5 hours to get the job done. I took off more than I needed too.
