Quick audio question

For those who have a aftermarket setup, would like to ask a quick question I have to alpine system, but was thinking of running my front door speakers off the front sound stage dsp amp since the 3.5's cant handle much mid bass but play louder then my door speakers when turned up, that way I cross lower and get a fuller mid bass sound up front. From the 6x8's.



Went out on a limb and tried it. I disconnected the 3.5's at the speakers and tapped into the front door speakers at the back of the head unit. And needless to say the sound I was looking for is there. The rear door speakers I left hooked to the head unit and they sound better in the mid bass, plus they are mid bass subs out of a 2001 rear package tray, so that's a plus.

if you think they sound better ran off that small amp, just imagine how good they would sound off of a real amp...

Yeah, OK, I'm going to do a bit of preaching in the hope that I can save just ONE of you "loud music" guys.

I have tinnitus (ear ringing/screeching). I got it from years of listening to loud music as a kid, and then attending a rock concert (in 2000) where I sat too close to the speakers.

I lived with it until 2007. Then, as a **&^&^&*&^&*& idiot, I used my leaf blower without inserting my earplugs. Screeching went nuts.

Went into depression, lost 30 lbs, considered doing things that I cannot repeat here.

After about a year, my mind adjusted, and, while not perfect, I led a pretty normal life.

Then, for some reason, things went from bad to worse last summer.

Now, to sleep, I'm back on Xanax, and I'm in a "5 day damn horrible/2 days horrible" ear cycle.

The moral of the story, don't blow your ears just to play loud music, otherwise you could wind up like me, a person that experiences a sound similar to three dentists drilling into your head 24/7.

FYI, there's no cure.

Yep, that tinnitus crap sucks. I earned mine by standing right behind the flagman when I was a young'un at the local roundy round stock car track. Usually I can ignore it, but it's made me hard of hearing. People have to talk louder than the noise floor the tinnitus creates. For anyone familiar with sound via cycles, the tone is about a constant 2600hz. The volume is a little quieter than normal conversation. I've listened to this tone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the last 30 years, and it has been getting slowly but steadily louder as time passes.

I understand you the damages loud music can cause,

I have had my share of earth shaking bass in the trunk, right now I just want a fuller sound since I haven't replaced the mid bass subs in the back. So just using the door speakers alone, my music suffered in the bass department.

Also I'm useing the stock speakers so that amp is perfect, as to not rip them to shreds, plus the ls charging system can barely run the car stock adding more amps is out the question till some one finds a high output alternator that works with the ls.

forget about changing the mid bass speaker on the rear, I pulled out the sub woofer amp on a 2002 lincoln ls and tried to use it with my new HU and it's a piece of crap. There's no bass output on this amp, it sounded like sorround speakers, returned the amp and swapped it with another unit thinking that it's just broken and it still sound the same. Changing the stock speakers to aftermarket is going to improve it a lot if you replace all 4 door speakers. I believe the amp could only deliver 40w (or less) per speaker.

There's no bass output on this amp, it sounded like sorround speakers, returned the amp and swapped it with another unit thinking that it's just broken and it still sound the same. Changing the stock speakers to aftermarket is going to improve it a lot if you replace all 4 door speakers. I believe the amp could only deliver 40w (or less) per speaker.

I see I think I'm going to go for the kappas and add strength to my front sound stage. And let the sub handle the rest. And just do away with the rear fill, or use the rear to reinforce, the mid bass up front.

I'm in the process of upgrading my 02 Sport Alpine system myself. Few things here I have questions about.

1. Are the center channel speakers 3.5's, I thought they were 2.5's?

2. Would it sound even better if the center's were still running with a amp power increase to the doors speakers? In other words if the centers were still running off the DSP amp, but the door speaker got increased wattage from a separate source, and the centers were still playing?

3. I was reading the threads and became confused about which speakers are actually better? The stock Door Alpine plates with separate mid and tweeter? Or the 1 piece 6x8 (wizzer cone)? All in one speaker from the NON Alpine 8 speaker stock system? With increased power.

And thanks for the post, just realized with age why my ears ring, why I get annoyed with multiple little outside sounds, why I have like 40% less hearing in my left ear, full time, all the time.

The center speakers are 3.5, if you leave them stock they will distort on high volume, IMO I would do a 6x8 woofer with a separate tweeter (that's more so preference) but either or will work. The dsp front amp I have it hook up to my door speakers front and it sounds like I'm sitting in a hall there's a very noticeable echo, and little to no bass. A good set of components up front would be enough. From what I'm seeing now in my setup.
