what's up LVC I have been on the boards for a while now not really making much noise, just absorbing all of th tips and things. I have a lot of questions about my car. a 97 mark VIII lsc. its my first one I've ever owned. needless to say i'm not exactly mechanically inclined but i'm learnin from u guys thanks.

first. I have a horrible rattle coming from my front passenger side wheel. i'm thinking lower control arm but I was told it could just be bushings sad part is I don't trust either source.
second my car jerks from time to time I cleaned the feul injectors and got an oil change what's left to do

third neither my neon tail light in the back nor do my LED's on the mirrors work work anybody know what kind of price i'm looking at?

I got a few more but I know this is already pretty long thanks for your help and imput in advance

Most of this have been covered before... but because you actually read a little bit before I'll break out the baby spoon...

First: The nasty rattle can be caused by any one of the frin suspension components being worn. Check the lower control arm, upper control arm, and strut rod bushing for wear or play, replace as necessary. I would note here that if you are going to replace any parts in the front end you might as well do the whole deal if you can afford it, then get an alignment afterwards.

Second: Jerking? or Misfiring/Running Roughly? I would replace the plugs, and inspect all the Coil on Plugs, they can go bad and cause real headaches. I would also test fuel pressure to see if your pump can keep up. Is the car throwing any codes? If so go to vatozone and get them read.

Third: Neon Tail Light, email glitchm@hotmail.com.... $90 for a new and improved ballast and everything should be goo again. As for the mirrors my car has burned out LED's too and there is no new solution to replace them as of right now, I'm looking at putting new LED's in mine right now, haven't tackeld this one yet, used is always an option.

Do a tune up filters plugs. The neon check the ballast. The LEDs stand outside the car with turn signals on you can't see them from the inside

got it. Ill take these suggestions and my wallet with me on trip to getting my baby workin right. "kustom" I have a couple more Q's that might have been posed before so bear with me if you can. ok my 10 dics changer works apparently the previous owner slapped in a cassette deck and it has no reference to a cd player at all. my question is should I try to find the factory radio deck or go after market...second question is about the feet. is 20"s too big I've been looking for 17 and 18 ince wheels but can't find anything I like. I've been checking all of your rides for ideas as well and I have seen some probable options but I just don't know what to even ask for. lastly my air ride was removed by the previous owner and replaced by new standard type "shocks" if that's the correct word i'm lookin for. is it worth it to go and put the air ride back on? is the ride that much better...what's you opinion LVC?

Man, you just opened yourself up for a long long longggggggg discussion about what's better, air ride or standard springs and struts. This has been a highly debated argument for a long time, it all just depends on the person and the fundage factor. Some people love the air ride, some people love the coils. It's all about the person.

You're always better to go with an aftermarket head unit but if you do, you might as well take the cd changer out. It's useless without the factory radio. That is, if the cd changer still even works.

As for the wheels, ask someone else, I'm not fluent in tires and wheels.

ok cool. I guess i'll go with the springs and shock for now i'll be able to determine that answer for my self after I get that front end problem fixed and thanks...so what kind of after market player should I look into. i'm not the type to blast my radio....I don't care what everyone hears outside...but I want it to sound amazing on the inside deep rich bass standout highs and mids you know? and should I replace the speakers I hve read somewhere on this site that the jbl system tones down as volume increases...it sounds decent to me now but if I can do better I want better just want to go about it the right way man. like I said i'm new to owning a car...i'm used to a metro card rather than a set of keys

the jerking your talking about is probly the dreaded transmision shudder. get it flushed from the dealer, they ar one of the few places that will drain the tourque converter and replace it with the correct fluid.

The trunk cd changer is junk...

I went with an oem in dash cd, but that is what I wanted and is the look I'm going for. I also like the factory jbl system and it suites my needs for the sound I like. As you turn up the volume the jbl loses bass in a big way...

For aftermarket I would find one that looks good and has the features that you want. Double din vs single is something you will have to think about. Single you need an adapter, double you need to trim the surround a wee bit for most head units.

If you are going to go aftermarket I would rewire the whole deal... but you can wire an aftermarket radio into the factory system...

As far the suspension... if the car is already converted I wouldn't waste the time to go back to air, its hard to say how much you will have to do to put air in, the previous owner might have butchered the entire system.

wow! transmission shudder! I've been thinking about just taking it to the dealership but have been a little worried about the bill they will slap on me. but I gotta do what I gotta do I guess thanks for that insight, might as well do the plugs too I guess. i'm gonna need some overtime to tackle all of this. I love this car though so whatever it takes to get her right.

A trans flush won't cost you too much... maybe $100-$150. If you go to a quick change lube place make sure they are using Mercron V, that is the fluid our trans needs to stop from shuddering.

Is the car throwing a CEL, that would be very helpful in knowing if you are getting a misfire or a shudder, the mis fire will throw a code, the shudder will not.

nah I never got a code on that but I did get one when the battery drained some how...still a mystery to unravel...i'll ask about mercon v though and make sure its all good. damn I got a lot of answers to some frustrating issues I've been having thanks this site is what I need in my life right now...

my studder was solved by plug wires, I also have the stock air system, I like it but am looking at the day I have to change it, I think being in Florida helps keep the bags from rotting, So hopefully they will last awile longer

good luck on that man is that air ride nice like they say? im gonna stick to what I have for now I suppose. been breakin the bank for my mark... and still have tons more to do...good luck with yourz

the trans shudder feels like those "rumble strips" when coming to a stop sign and will sometimes come and go with different speeds (depending how bad it is) a miss will feel like the eng tries to stop for a sec
i love the air but i agree swapping back from springs could be a mess
as for the rims look down (see signature) many good options listed there
