I was thinkin about buyin a ls for a maybe fun dd, my question was the gas mileage range on the 6 and 8. I drive for a living and 10 city 27 hwy aint cuttin it with my mark viii. And also could the ls handle 1500 to 2000 miles a week?

Right off my window sticker: 18 city/24 highway

I saw 25.5 on a trip back from Atlanta in November doing 80mph+ with the KKM intake and exhaust.

Thats about right for me as well. I can never get over 24 on the highway and I get about 16-17 in the city when I am light on the throttle.

The LS8 is probably going to a little more fun than a 6 simply because the engine sounds awesome when mashing the gas and the torque on these cars are nice. Good luck in your hunt, prices are soft on the LS in general right now and you should be able to pick up a low mile model for a decent price.

Mine has been a bit weird with gas mileage. For a while I was getting between 15 and 16 in the city. Then I took a drive up to dallas (three hours) and back and after that it has shown 18 to 19 city. I also get at least 25 on the highway. This is with no mods.

Does a CAI give better gas mileage with the less resistance?

Also, I have an 04 LS8.

i appriciate the stats now the big question can it handle 1500 to 2000 miles a week? And are they problematic in general?

LS daily driver

1500 to 2000 miles a week is about 75K to 100K a year. That'll wear out any car. I've found the LS (I have an '02 8 bought new and now having 112K miles.) It's lasted at least as well as any car I've ever had. I tend to change about every three years, and have probably had at least ten Town Cars and Marks. I'd buy another LS in a heartbeat but I don't need another because I already have one. Goodness knows I've not been easy on it---see 'Land Speed LS' in the HP section:)
