I have a stock 6 disc Alpine radio in my LS. I have been looking at buying a used stock navigation/radio, but have some questions.

1. Will my current stock wiring system work or will new wiring have to be installed?

2. Can I install it without taking it to the dealership? I know I can put it in physically, but do not know about programming it.

Any advice helps!

No to question one, new wiring needed.

Question 2, depending on your expertise, your better off with an aftermarket.

Aftermarket is a far better, cheaper and easier solution. I was looking into the same thing as you when I first got my car and wound up going with the AVIC D3.

If you don't mind me asking.....how much did you drop into to the AVIC D3 after all expenses were paid?

I bought it used from a member here. What I paid isn't typical of what's out there. I got a pretty decent deal on it and wound up putting it in myself.

Did you only have to install the head-unit itself or was there additional pieces to install (like a reciever or something)?

Just the head unit and the GPS antenna. I wound up adding an XM module two weekends ago, so the head unit had to come out to hook up the wiring for that.
