question for you LS guys

whats up guys, for the first time looking up close i saw the LS interior and noticed what looks like spekers on the sides of the center console area. seems like a strange location for speakers?

Yes, it is. They are for center channel imaging. I have one LS with those, and one with THX nav (no center console speakers). The THX one sounds a little better than the other one.
I think that they were probably done so that some Lincoln marketing person could brag about the car having 12 speakers (10 just wouldn't be enough).

thats weird, i dont know why they would worry about imaging in a 12 speaker system. and why not put one on the dash so it actually images right? oh well thanks for answering my question

The speakers in the center console are there when your legs cover the door speakers. This way the music is never muffled. I'm a big guy so when my leg is against the door i can't hear that speaker much anymore. LOL

also saying 12 speakers makes it sound more impressive

x2, I dont have the 12 speaker system in my LS, nor do I want it, because when I instal my subs and amps, and door speakers, I dont wanna be replacing 12 speakers LMFAO, but in my explorer, when im sittin there, same thing as you, sound gets deadened by my leg lol

yeah i dont really even notice the little speakers in the center console but hey what ever they're there and im not gunna take em out but yeah i dont even know what size those are to replace them.

I replaced my center console speakers with 1" tweeters, and they sounds so much better than the speakers that are in there stock.

I bought components for the doors and relocated the tweeters up higher. I love the new sound. The sound is more well balanced now. The mid/highs actually keep up with the sub now.

i dont know if i like that location but i bet it sounds good i thought about mounting mine in the pillar but im not sure if there is the room to do it but im going to see if i can
