Question for my buddy's '03

He has the indash 6 disc system... could he change that to the stock Nav unit just swapping in/out or would he have to do something special?

This has been discussed many, many, many times, so you should be able to find at least one thread with all the details, but NYC has given you the bottom line--it can be done, but you can get better results for less money by going aftermarket.

Ok I'll let him know, but he likes keeping everything stock/original and I don't blame him ya know.
