I know Mark VIII come with irs, but a buddy of mine has an 03 cobra and ofcourse being irs he is trying to get a solid rear axle from a sn95 body style stang....my question is would it be possible to do the same with the mark VIII rear end as well? and would it really be nessecary?

welcome to LVC. yes anything is possible, but it's not necessary unless you plan on running 10's or lower.

I dont know why you would want to get rid of the irs on the mark? Its an amazingly fat lady. The irs, and air suspension make this car "born to drag" It transfers the weight much better than solid rear. Now, yeah...if you want low numbers, id say go with the solid, but for stock or slightly modded stay with the irs, its more bennificial. IMO

well i plan for low to mid 12's at best no more or no less...no need to sacrifice drivability with these cars...and thats low 12's on spray too. i read all the supporting and basic mods to get out the way first so i know what it will take to run the times i want.

The stock 8.8 28 spline on the Mark VIII is pretty damn strong... My 2 cents...
